This is My Story

My route in life to becoming a web designer is a little unusual. I have always been interested in computers, but was “encouraged” to pursue biology in college. This turned into a passion for molecular biology which resulted in me getting my Ph.D. in virology from Harvard. Fast forward 15 years to my position as Associate Professor at Yale University.

During the economic downturn in the early/mid-2000’s it was getting more difficult to keep the lab funded. Frankly, doing science had become a slog of everything I didn’t really care for and so I decided it was time to make a change. I took my early love of computers and my life-long skills as a student and experience I picked up writing code for scientific projects and started Spring Hill Design.

With my decades of experience in biomedical research I can provide web sites and hosting not only to small businesses and individuals, but also code complex, data-intense sites for health and research leaning companies to allow better data management and analytics.

This is My Story

I was born and grew up in Germany. I did my undergraduate and Ph.D. at the University of Erlangen before moving to America for a post-doctoral position at Harvard. After several years I moved back to Germany and started my own lab before realizing that the love of my life was still back in the States! I moved back, we got married and I’m here to stay.

I bring my life-long love of photography to Spring Hill Design, along with a killer eye for detail, and a love of organic gardening!

Lead Rat Patroller Spring Hill Farm, Happiness Coordinator Spring Hill Design

This is My Story

I had a hard start in life. At my well puppy check-up the vet found I didn’t have heart sounds on one side of my chest. It turns out I had a diaphragmatic hernia – quite a mouthful for a young puppy to manage. One surgery later to take my intestines out of my chest and put them back where they belong and I was on my way to ratting greatness!

No, I’m not a Lab, I’m a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Most people make the mistake once…once. I take my jobs at Spring Hill very seriously from helping on rat patrol to making sure that all the employees take well needed breaks throughout the day, mostly to pet me.
